International Pond Hockey Championship
Chambly Canal
Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Canada (20 minutes from Montreal)
February 1 – 3, 2013

Divisions: Men and Women from competitive to recreation and 40+

Pond hockey is based on pleasure. Its rules enforce not only exciting, but courteous play. This version of our national sport, which is gaining in popularity, brings up in many players memories of childhood games.

Since 2007, on the Chambly Canal National Historic Site of Canada, takes place the International Pond Hockey Championship of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. For the 2013 edition, four categories are offered to participants, according to their experience and interest:

Competitive Category

The Competitive category is intended for seasoned players who wish to compete in order to be crowned 2013 Champions. The winning team will go on to compete at the World Pond Hockey Championship, in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick in February 2014.

Recreational Category

The Recreational category is intended for players who wish to be challenged during their matches. These teams will be divided into pools of four teams each. After the preliminary round, the first two teams will move on to the Class A Medals round while the last two teams move on to the Class B Medals round.

Just-for-Fun Category

The Just-for-Fun category is mixed and intended for players who wish to play a friendly, non-competitive game. Teams must include at least one woman, and a woman must be part of each starting alignment.

Old Timers Category

The Old Timers category is intended for players aged 40 years old or older who wish to compete against players of similar age and experience in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
