Teams will be classified according to team profiles received by organisers.
Anyone wishing to play in the tournament and who does not have a team, or have enough players to form a team can register as a free agent. We will place you on a team that requires a player(s). Please follow the registration instructions. Note: If we cannot find a team for you, a refund will be issued.
Registration costs $285 plus taxes per team (regardless of the number of players – maximum 6) ) if registered and paid before November 26th 2012, and $320 plus taxes for registration received past November 27th 2012. Due to the exclusive nature and size of the event site, places are limited. Register now.
The game is simple and beautiful, it’s the one we grew up playing on outdoor ice surfaces wherever we could find them. Two teams of 4 players each meet on a 75 by 150 foot ice surface and try to put the puck in the opposing team’s four-foot wide by six-inch high net. Players must follow all rules of play relating to: length of play, substitutions, penalties, and fair play. The team with the most goals at the end of timed play, two (2) 15-minute halves, wins the game.
Registered teams will be grouped into men’s and women’s divisions according to team skill level as determined by Montreal Pond Hockey Festival organizers (Hockey Glacier) and based on team information received. All teams will be placed in a double bracket table, the third game being the knock out game. Teams who win their third game will move to the playoff round on the Sunday. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games.
Though only 4 players are allowed on the ice at one time, teams may be comprised of 4 to 6 players. Only players who have registered and signed an official roster and player waiver before the start of the tournament will be allowed to take the ice. If a registered player withdraws, he may be replaced by a player of equivalent skill level with Montreal Pond Hockey Festival approval only.
The game of hockey is meant to be played with passion and effort but also within the rules of good sportsmanship and respect for others. Hockey Glacier and the Montreal Pond Hockey Festival will not tolerate unsportsmanlike conduct or rough play under any circumstances, offending players will be ejected immediately with no refund.
